Grove Theatre Technical Specifications – Overview

MANAGEMENT
Production Room: First floor of theatre, Room 131 located near the stage door. Telephone installed, wireless internet access only, fax available. Audio feed from stage. Furnished with desk, table and chairs.
Green Room: First floor adjacent to dressing rooms and stage, Room 132. 21’ X 15’ (6.4m X 4.57m) furnished with tables, chairs, sofas, and kitchen area.
Crews: Local professional union and non-union.
Handicapped Access: All dressing rooms are handicapped accessible and have handicap accessible restrooms and showers. All dressing rooms are located at stage level.
Policies: House opens 30 minutes before curtain. Normal curtain time is 7:30 PM. We cannot supply alcoholic beverages for performers and we cannot ask our runners to purchase alcoholic beverages. Building is a smoke free environment.
Load In Area: The loading dock will accommodate 4 trucks. One bay has a 4,000-pound lift (1816kg). Dock height is 4’ (1.22m). The loading dock is covered. There is one load in door 11’6” wide by 16’ high (3.5m X 4.88m). The loading dock is at the same level as the stage and it is a straight 50 foot run to the upstage left load in door.
CARPENTRY
Seating: 1488 seats, 48 are wheelchair accessible. 53 seats are removed when the orchestra pit is used. See seating chart on website.
STAGE DIMENSIONS
Proscenium: 56’ wide X 24’ high (17.07m X 7.32m). The proscenium can be reduced by a permanently installed false proscenium to 44’ X 16’ (13.41m X 4.88m). Plaster line to rear wall of stage is 40’ (12.19m). Plaster line to apron at center stage is 3’ (.91m). Plaster line to apron at center stage with orchestra pit elevator at stage level is 15’ (4.57m).
Wing Space: 15’ (4.57m) stage left. There are several electrical boxes protruding 6” (.15m) on the stage left wall. 12’ (3.66m) stage right
Grid Height: Top of deck to top of grid 68’ (20.73m).
Orchestra Pit: 62’ (18.9m) wide X 18’ (5.49m) deep at centerline. 15’ (4.57m) deep at ends of arc. Elevator has three predetermined levels 0’ (0m) stage level,
-3’4” (-1.01m) house seating level, -9’ (-2.74m) orchestra pit level. Elevator can be stopped at any point between set stops. Access to the orchestra pit level is via stairs or elevator. There are two restrooms adjacent to the orchestra pit.
Stage Height: 3’4” (1.01m) above the house floor.
Stage Floor: Maple tongue and groove stained black. Lagging and improved stage screws permitted. Floor will support a uniformly distributed load of 150 pounds per square foot (732Kg / sq. meter). There are no traps in the stage.
HOUSE DRAPERIES
House Curtain: Eggplant #4997 Traveler and guillotine combination at plaster line. Manual lift line and traveler operation line located stage right. 100% fullness.
Legs: 10 black velour, sewn flat 28’x 12’ (8.53m x 3.66m)
Tabs: 4 black velour, sewn flat 28’ x 14’ (8.53m x 4.27m)
Borders: 3 black velour, sewn flat 16’ x 58’ (4.88m x 17.68m) 3 black velour, sewn flat 10’ x 58’ (3.05m x 17.68m)
Split Blackout Travelers: 2 complete drapes with 2 equal panels each, black velour, sewn flat. Each panel 28’ x 29.5’ (8.53m x 8.99m)

Capacity: 1800 pounds (816 Kilograms) uniformly distributed.

Winch Capacity: none
Chain Motors: Two, one ton, downstage of the proscenium. One stage left and one stage right for touring sound.
Loading Galleries: There are two loading galleries stage right one at 54’ (16.46m) and one at 62’ (18.9m).
Locking rail: Stage right on the deck and also at the 29’ (8.84m) fly gallery.
Pin Rail: For rope system stage right and stage left at the 29’ (8.84m) fly gallery.
Forestage Rigging: Forestage grid is at 40’ (12.19m) with a rope system, and steel beams for winches.
Hoist Rigging: At the grid a maximum of two 2200 pound (1 metric ton) loads at any one point on any beam, grid well, or grid panel. We have portable steel at the grid to facilitate rigging points.
SUPPORT AREAS
Crossover: Behind line set 68 is 4’6” (1.37m) wide. There is also a crossover at fly gallery, 29’ (8.84m) level. Off stage crossover in hall between dressing rooms and stage.
Access: From front of house via 5’ (1.52m) wide hallways on house left and right. Dressing rooms, green room, production office, and laundry room are behind the stage at stage level.
Storage: The receiving area can be used for storage 45’ X 16’ (13.72m X .88m).
Notes: There is no shop area in this building.

Power: 120/208V, 3 phase, 400 A/leg, stage left wall and stage right wall.
Dimmers: 480 ETC, 2.4 KW dimmers. 11 ETC, 6 KW dimmers. 36 ETC 2.4 KW Dimmers (house lights).

Power: 120/208V, 3 phase, 100A / leg, Camlock or bare end connection, stage left wall X 2.
Control Locations: Sound booth at rear of orchestra seating, room 203. Live mix area in orchestra seating crossover 68’ (20.73m) from plaster line. Live mix area is not under the balcony. Area is 7’ X 18’ (2.13 x 5.48m). Live mix area is prewired with 48 channel snake from the stage and 24 channel return snake to stage.
Hearing Assist System: 32 wireless receivers with headsets available to patrons.
Monitor/Paging System: Dressing rooms and green room accessed from stage management booth. Program input is possible. Video monitors in green room, dressing room 123, 125, and orchestra pit.
Production Communication: Telex 2 channel system with 4 wireless headsets, 12 wired headsets, and 5 wall stations.
Mixing Consoles: 1 Yamaha PM5D-RH 48 channel, 1 Yamaha M7CL 48, 1 Yamaha LS9 16
Microphones: wireless and conventional (no wig microphones)

Dance Floor: Harlequin Cascade, black, 65’ 6” (20m) wide, 39’ 3” (12m) deep.
Lecterns: 2 mahogany wood lecterns. 1 brushed aluminum lectern.
Dressing Rooms and Wardrobe Facilities
Dressing Rooms: All dressing rooms are located directly behind the stage on the same level as the stage. 3 individual dressing rooms, each includes stage monitor speaker, a makeup table with lights, chair, mirrors, easy chair or sofa, costume rack, toilet, sink, and ADA shower. 2 of these dressing rooms include video monitor.
2 large dressing rooms that will accommodate 12 actors each includes stage monitor speaker, 12 makeup tables with lights, chairs, mirrors, costume racks, toilets, sinks, and showers.1 dressing room that will accommodate 6 actors includes stage monitor speaker, 6 makeup tables with lights, chairs, mirrors, costume racks, toilets, sinks, and showers. 1 dressing room that will accommodate 4 actors includes stage monitor speaker, 4 makeup tables with lights, chairs, mirrors, costume racks, toilets, sinks, and showers.
Wardrobe Room: Located behind stage adjacent to dressing rooms and stage on the same level as the stage, includes washers, dryers, steamers, irons and ironing boards.
Notes: There is no costume shop in this building.
Power on Stage: The following company switches are located stage left.
Sound power isolated ground, separate transformer: two 100 amp 3 phase camlock.
Lighting power one 400 amp 3 phase camlock. Other one 60 amp 3 phase camlock.
Company switches stage right: one 400 amp 3 phase camlock.
Throughout the stage and house there are 20 amp Edison outlets. Orange outlets are isolated ground and supplied from the ‘sound’ transformer.
Grids: several 208 v 30 amp twist lock, several 120 v 20 amp edison.
Throughout the theatre: 120 v 20 amp edison isolated ground and convenience.
Loading Area: One 400 amp 3 phase camlock or posilock.
Loading dock: One 50 amp shore power. Several 20 amp Edison outlets.
Tour bus parking area: Two 50 amp shore power.
